6 Reasons for Home buying in the Fall
You might be wondering, "is the housing market starting to cool down along with the weather?"
“Cool” is a relative term, especially these last few years. ;)
Are we starting to see things slow down a bit? Yes, things are in a more “normal” or “typical” range.
Any professional in this industry will tell you how good it feels to not be sprinting full out for a moment.
If you’re feeling the FOMO from not buying a new home this Spring/Summer… FEAR NOT!
Fall is an awesome time to buy! And we have 6 reasons to prove it.
1. Fewer buyers = not as much competition.
Buying a home has been an all-out 100-meter SPRINT since Spring 2020.
With fewer buyers in the market, there’s not as much competition for you
-->ergo BREATHING ROOM. Enjoy.
2. Slower season = more attention from realtors/lenders/appraisers/etc.
This slow season isn’t exclusive to home buyers/sellers…. Professionals in the industry have been feeling it too.
As business is slowing down, current clients/customers get extra-great attention. (Not that you don’t always get amazing service and attention, of course. It’s like if you are a parent of multiple children, one-on-one time with a kid is extra special.)
You’re even more likely to get better response times from home inspectors, insurance agents, underwriting teams, and more.
3. Buyers market = sellers more willing to entertain offers
Now, this does NOT mean low ball offers, that's disrespectful to all parties involved, including yourself. Always consult with your realtor professional for what’s best in your situation.
Again, everyone has some more breathing room (have we mentioned that yet?)
Sellers aren’t having to duck, dive, dip, and dodge offers from everywhere. They can focus on the one in front of them.
4. New home for the holidays
We’re full steam ahead on some fun holidays - especially when it comes to gathering together and decorating the house. What a great time to create memories in a new space!
5. So many sales on appliances, furniture, and more!
Need a new stove, fridge, or living room furniture - there’s probably a sale coming up!
(Consumer reports actually say that November is the best month to purchase new appliances, so keep that nugget of info handy if you need it!)
Remember do not buy until after your loan closes, you don’t want to cause harm or delay to your mortgage terms. Consult with your mortgage professional for guidance on timing.
6. Weather-related issues are more apparent.
As the trees become bare, cold weather moves in, and precipitation falls, it might be easier to notice any issues around the house. Your inspector will have a better picture of what you can expect as a homeowner.
This gives you even better insight to make informed decisions in the process.
YES - we always recommend a home inspection!
