Pennie’s journey into real estate began unexpectedly. Initially, she was cleaning houses while homeschooling her children. When back issues forced her to reconsider her career, she transitioned into real estate, a field she had admired from afar. After completing her studies at DMACC, Pennie quickly obtained her real estate license and started her journey in the industry.
Early Years and Building a Team
The first few years were eye-opening for Pennie. She quickly learned the ins and outs of the real estate business, and it wasn’t long before she envisioned creating her own team. By 2013, Pennie was handling up to 20 home transactions a month, but she felt she wasn't giving her clients the attention they deserved. This realization led her to form a team, starting with her sons, Joe and Lauren. Each brought unique strengths to the table, enhancing the team's ability to serve their clients better.

Pennie emphasizes the importance of having a strong team. She credits her long-time transaction coordinator, April Warren, for helping her manage the complexities of real estate transactions. Pennie is deeply involved in the community. She is an active member of several chambers of commerce, including Pleasant Hill, Bondurant, Urbandale, Fuse, and Des Moines West. Additionally, she participates in Kiwanis, Rotary Club, and serves as co-president of the National Association of Women Business Owners. Through these organizations, Pennie connects with the community, supports local schools, and advocates for women in business.
